The vast majority of problems on the Internet are the result of folks not understanding what they are doing. ISPs sell "Internet Access" without really explaining what that access means or what responsibilities go along with it. Many people who today consider themselves experienced 'Net denizens have really only been at it a few years and have interacted with only a few hundred of the millions of people hooked up to the Internet.

These pages provide a few guidelines to help both new and experienced net surfers avoid the most common mistakes in Internet usage. Most of the unpleasantness associated with the Internet could be avoided if a majority of users would simply be aware of what they are doing and how it affects other people.
